最先端の研究・デザイン活動を紹介するカジュアルなラボ・トークイベントシリーズ「インスパイアトーク（Inspire Talks）」。シリーズ通算18回目を迎える今回は、「It’s a Small World: Design meets Nano-technology」というテーマで、ナノスケールの世界から生み出される様々な試みについて、3人の科学者とデザイナーが自身のプロジェクトを語ります。
東京大学生産技術研究所からは、MEMS(Micro Electro Mechanical Systems)の研究分野から年吉洋教授をお招きし、「振動型ＭＥＭＳエナジーハーベスタ 〜電池要らずエレクトロニクスへの第一歩〜」をテーマに最先端の研究をご紹介いただきます。
DLX Design Labからは、今年修士課程を修了予定の内倉悠さんをお招きし、自身の修士研究「DYNAMIC TEXTURE」を題材に、テクスチャの微細な変化を用いたコミュニケーション可能性についてご紹介いただきます。
The Royal College of Artからは、テキスタイルの研究分野からDr Elif Ozden Yenigunさんをお招きし、ナノスケールの技術を用いたスマートテキスタイルデザインの可能性に関する最新研究について、サステナビリティの観点を交えてご紹介いただきます。
それぞれのトークに続いて、Q＆Aセッションを行い、視聴者の皆様からのご質問をベースに、専門性を超えて登壇者同士でのディスカッションを行います。

Inspire Talks is an exciting opportunity to enjoy hearing about cutting edge topics from science and design. In the next session we will feature three speakers from Institute of Industrial Science, DLX Design Lab, and the Royal College of Art, talking about their latest research and experiments created in the nanoscale world.
Professor Hiroshi Toshiyoshi (Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo) will introduce his latest research on MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) Vibrational Energy Harvester, which leads to a significant step forward to the future battery-free electronics.
Yu Uchikura (Master Student, DLX Design Lab, the University of Tokyo) will introduce his master thesis: DYNAMIC TEXTURES, focusing on the communicative possibilities through altering the tactile quality of surfaces. He will talk about his experimental journey regarding mmscale tactile sensations.
Dr Elif Ozden Yenigun (Senior Tutor, MA Textiles, the Royal College of Art) will introduce “Material Dichotomies” in functional textile design, and talk about her latest research on the potential of smart textile design using nanoscale technologies, with a focus on applicability and sustainability.
The talks will be followed by a Q&A session, where the speakers will answer questions from the audience and discuss among them across specialties.
